Chemistry Masters Graduate Assistantships
The Chemistry Department is generally able to offer some financial support to full-time graduate students in good standing by a combination of Graduate Assistantships (GAs) and part-time teaching. For first year graduate students on a full-GA, the GA academic year stipend will be $10,850. In addition, GAs are allowed to pay the in-state tuition rate rather than the out-of-state tuition rate, a savings of approximately $6874 per year for students who are not residents of Kentucky. Some summer support in the form of part-time teaching is also made available when possible to graduate students in good standing.
If you are interested in obtaining this type of financial support for your graduate studies, then you will need to complete the on-line application for a graduate assistantship. This process does not require any additional fees. If you are an international student who does not yet have a social security number, then our Human Resources office will need to assign you a temporary number to use instead of a social security number on the application. Later, the EKU Human Resources office can also assist you in obtaining an official social security number before you begin GA duties. To request this number, email elizabeth.chenault-huguley@eku.edu and specify that you are an international student who needs a temporary number to use in applying for a Graduate Assistantship position in Chemistry.
The instructions for applying for a GA position are as follows:
- Go to http://www.hr.eku.edu/employment/
- Click on 'Employment Opportunities' near the top of the screen
- Click on the 'Search Requisitions' button on the left side of this screen
- Under 'Department' choose Chemistry and leave the other items blank and click 'Search'
- Click on the 'view' link below the position that has 'Graduate Assistant' in the title.
- Click on 'Apply for this requisition' and follow directions on the screen
- After applying online, also have 3 letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with your qualifications sent to the Chemistry Graduate Program Coordinator. The address to send the recommendation letters is:
